I've particularly been procrastinating over this one because I thought I would Frankenbatt some batting pieces together. But none of my scraps were good sizes that would work without generating even more, less useful scraps. I ended up cutting one piece from my new bolt of nice batting. Then I spent the morning pressing the backing and the top, layering, and pinning. My knees are not happy.
My goal is to get this quilted and finished this week. I can get that done, don't you think?

Yes, I think you can get it done! I intend to use pieces of batting, but usually start with a whole piece. The left-overs can be used for doll quilts, is what I tell myself. Thanks for linking to Design Wall Monday.

ReplyDeleteI tend to put off dreaded jobs when they contain even more labor (like making Frankenbatting). I hope your knees are already feeling better and I know you can get it quilted this week!
ReplyDeleteThe last time I basted two quilts I draped everything over my ironing board. It worked quite well! I think I got inspiration from another blog I follow! I like the triangles in this Xmas tree quilt :)
ReplyDeleteThe tree is very cute, but I do share your concern about your knees. I use clamps and baste on a table just for this reason. Can't wait to see how the quilting turns out now that the basting is done!

ReplyDeleteWe are quilters from different mothers - or however that saying goes. HAHA I hate pinning the layers together too. HATE IT. But . . . I solved it by putting a huge island in my kitchen. Big enough to easily pin a full size without it hanging off the sides too much. Now I just get a backache. I'll bet you could use a kitchen/dining room table with something over the wood to make it bigger - a folding top of some type. Not too heavy but enough to not feel flimsy. Maybe we can event something and make millions?! Back on topic - I love the tree. I am 100% sure you can get it quilted in a week. Get 'er done. ~smile~ Roseanne
