July Stash Report and Goals Update

I succumbed to the lure of $1 fat quarters this month, so let's tally up the damage and check out the state of the stash.

In this month: 9 yards (two visits to FQ Sale)
OUT this month: 9 yards (Binding & sleeves for Christmas Tree - 3/4 yard;  Bag for Christmas tree - 1 yard;  Flannel quilt excluding shirts - 4-1/2 yards;  Wide backing for KBFG quilt, 2-1/2 yards;  Viewer's Choice Ribbon - 1/4 yard)

IN YTD: 73-1/2 yards
OUT YTD: 81-1/4 yards
YTD Net Change: 7-3/4 yards OUT

Still doing okay for the year.  Finishes always help!

Goals Update:

July Recap:
1. Christmas Tree project: Bind, add sleeves, add label, and start hand stitching loops for hanging ornaments. Done, completely finished including all the hand-stitched loops, plus made gift/storage bag.
2. 12 Days of Christmas In July: Prep photos and write blog post to go live July 19th. DONE
3. Make Viewers' Choice award ribbon for CSQ's quilt show, due July 18th. DONE
4. Flannel project: Join blocks to complete the flimsy. If time permits, piece a backing. DONE, both top and backing
5. Cut and piece 32 red HSTs and 38 blue HSTs. DONE
6. Start cutting sashing pieces for Solstice project; kit them for sewing in September & October.  Not done; there was a problem with the fabric I bought and I need to find a different fabric.
7. Work on WIVSP hand piecing project. Not touched due to too much hand work sewing loops on Christmas tree.
8. Keep up with bee blocks. DONE

Okay, so I got more done on some projects and less done on others. At least all the deadlines were met.

August Goals
1. Bind, label, add sleeve and photograph KBFG quilt to enter into guild show.
2. Finish making alternate blocks for Emerald Isle BOM.
3. Post Snake Quilt tutorial.
4. Find suitable sashing fabric for Solstice Challenge blocks; cut and kit up sashing pieces for future sewing.
5. Make progress on Roman Road UFO.
6. Work on WIVSP hand piecing project.
7. Keep up with bee blocks.

Sounds like a small, do-able list for August, but I have some non-quilty things going on that will take a lot of time. Hopefully I can accomplish the things on this list!

  1. I love your flying geese quilt! The autumnal color scheme is perfect, too -- that's when you see them flying away for the winter, after all!

  3. I love the ribbon you made, gorgeous. Lots of different fabric and designs under your needle this past month. I'm glad that list you wrote is for the month of August, I first assumed it was for the first WEEK of the month!

  5. Beautiful finishes. I say staying even on your stash with a fat quarter sale is pretty good.
