Stash Usage Calculation

Can any of you stash reporters help me out?

This mountain of snippets weighs 7.15 ounces. That's nearly half a pound!
Mount Snippet

I'm trying to figure out how much yardage this is. I know there's a conversion of quilting fabric weight to yardage but I can't find it. Does anyone know? Please leave a comment. Thanks!

  1. Thanks for joining us! I looked it up and it depends on the thickness of the fabric. A pound can be anywhere from 3 to 4.5 yards.

  2. At the fabric shop where I buy sample fabrics by the pound, they always say a pound is about 3 yards. Similar to what Donna said.

  3. Interesting! Your snippets remind me of my daughter's use for them: They become spaghetti play food for my grands! :) Your flimsy is lovely!

  5. Every fabric weighs a different amount. When we ordered yardage from the catalog (in the 50s and 60s) we had to add up the weights of all the purchases to figure out how much shipping would be charged. (And now you know how old I am.)
