Big Changes Coming

 Hello Quilty Friends,

Big changes are coming around here. Usually I post a finish for Whoop Whoop Friday, but today I'm whooping for another reason.

As I've mentioned here before, we have long planned to move to Arizona when DH retired. Our plans to buy a new home were interrupted in March by the pandemic, but we've continued to watch the real estate listings in our preferred community, Pebble Creek in Goodyear AZ. We've seen enough listings to know the right one when it comes along. Well, the right one popped up last week.

We knew it would go quickly so we had to decide right away whether to pursue it or not, especially during Covid times. We decided to go for it, and our offer was accepted. Whoo-hoo!

Now we're up to our eyebrows in Docu-Sign paperwork, and planning for inspections, etc.. Very stressful!

We've been in our current house for 35 years. We've accumulated a lot of stuff over that time, and over the last couple of years I've been working on sorting, decluttering, and downsizing. Now those efforts are in high gear.

We're talking with the local realtor in the next few days about when to put our house on the market. I'm sure there are still some things we need to do to get the house ready, although we've done all the painting and sprucing up she suggested last March.

With all this going on, I won't have much time for quilting or blogging. I don't expect to be able to keep up my schedule of posting 2-3 times a week for awhile, but I'll keep in touch when I can.

This is hugely exciting for DH and me. We've been looking forward to the Pebble Creek lifestyle and the opportunity to travel in the West for a very long time, and now it's really going to happen.  Even during the pandemic.

Wish me luck!

  6. Congratulations! I wanted to tell you that I moved in August to Detroit from South Dakota. We (my daughter's family also moved) decided that Covid is not going away and we should just go for it. You don't need encouragement because you have already made the tough decisions, but I just wanted to support your decision: it's the right one. Y'all will be careful, and extra careful during this process, and you will in all likelihood be just fine. Again: congratulations! What a wonderful adventure is ahead of you!!

  7. Congrats Jan! A move is so exciting. We watch the listings in Northeast WA regularly just in case the perfect house pops up. It is a good idea because then you have a really good feeling for real estate in a certain area. We won't move for a while yet because the need to maintain residency for my daughter till she finishes college. But we like to look.
You are really changing climates! Anyway - so happy for you and look forward to seeing your new home. Don't worry about blogging. We will all be here when you are settled in!

  11. Oh, my! Congrats on the new home and the upcoming move. It will be interesting to see how your new surroundings pop up in your quilt designs. Take care. Moving in the time of Covid must be rather complicated.

  14. That's wonderful news Jan! Good thing that you've been doing the difficult things ahead of time - it always seems to take far longer when you're dealing with a deadline.
