12 Days of Christmas in July Blog Hop

Once again Sarah is hosting 12 Days of Christmas in July over at Confessions of a Fabric Addict.

I wasn't sure about participating this year. I don't have a Christmas project in the works, and no need for any decor or gifty Christmas items. I reached out to Sarah and asked if it would be okay to reprise my Life Size Christmas Tree Wall Hanging, and she said yes.

Some of you may remember when I first posted about this in July 2017.

That year, my son, who lives in a small house with two roommates and three cats, and whose son was at the time two years old, asked for something like this. They don't have room for an actual Christmas tree, but they have favorite ornaments they'd like to display.

It was the perfect solution, and they've used it for two Christmases now. The cats can't climb it and it doesn't get in the way, but they can decorate it and even put presents under it.

When I posted about it in 2017, some of the commenters mentioned that it would also be good for someone living in a nursing home or a dorm.

Mary Kay, a quilter who reads my blog and found the tutorial, made a version of her own in 2018 and sent me a photo. Her version turned out beautiful, especially with all her lovely ornaments on it.

    I do remember your post about the Christmas Tree Wall hanging. It is really cute and is a great alternative for a tree in a small house.

    I love this idea! Not only am I allergic to pine trees, but we also travel to our cabin at Christmas time. My daughter always laments the lack of a tree.

    I do remember your original post and I think I commented on that one. We don't put up a tree any longer, but this would be a great way to bring out some of my favorite ornaments again. Thanks for the reminder and the tutorial.

    I remember this and wanted to make it, but the triangles stopped me. I'm a bit better now, so maybe I can make this happen this year for DD's new apartment.

    What a marvelous idea. I retired to an OLD single wide at the beach. I've been here 5 years but haven't had a tree due to space issues and small dogs. I'm anxious to make this now! Thank you ever so much!

    Love this tree idea! Would be fun for my 2 daughter's homes..both have cats...& can't put up a tree. Might just have to make them each one! (shh...giggle) Thank you for sharing the Tutorial too :)

    I love this idea!!! We live in an apartment and every year it's a massive 'thing' to get the furniture moved and the tree set up, particularly when we rarely have people come over Christmas (we now go to our sons). This would be perfect for us - and we wouldn't have to store that massive big box of tree in our closet. Thank you for the inspiration!!

    Your tree is such a great idea...perfect for small spaces or a kids bedroom. What I love most about it is how it would be perfect for those sweet, but tiny, ornaments that always get lost on a big tree.

    Your story about your son, roommates, and several cats reminds me of my son. I am not sure I can sew triangles, but I may try it because I know several people who no longer can put up trees or hesitate because of their cats. Anyway, it is such a clever idea and I love it!
