It was inspired by something I saw online, and if I knew where I saw it I would give credit, but unfortunately I don't. The original inspiration was concentric squares, not spiral, and white, not black.
I tried to get a good photo earlier this week, but the wind was helping just a bit too much.
The flimsy is 60 x 68", a good throw size for a short person like me. I want to get a bright large scale Kaffe Fasset print for the backing.
I plan to quilt it myself and keep it. My hope is that this will be for outdoor living during the winter when we move to AZ, but since the move is on hold, it may be next year at the earliest that we could move.

A bright Kaffe Fasset print for the backing sounds perfect, as does your plan for the eventual use of the quilt.
ReplyDeleteA Kaffe Fasset print is going to be perfect on the back of this beauty. Great pattern.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love it - and your plan to use a bright bold Kaffe print for the backing. It's wonderful!!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous!!! I’m sooo glad you’re keeping this one :)
ReplyDeleteI'm SEW glad that you plan to keep this quilt, Jan. LOVE it's scrappiness!
ReplyDeleteGreat finish! It's been fun watching this quilt come together.
ReplyDeleteI am so... tempted to drop everything and attempt this!!!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Like Preeti, now I want to make one. Did it turn out exactly like you saw it in your head, or did it evolve a bit while you were stitching it?
ReplyDeleteOh it turned out so so great!!!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I love the warm colors plus purple for the spiral. They look great against the black.
ReplyDeleteI love this so much and I'm sure when it's quilted you will share some photos! It's really hard to remember or track down where you found inspiration to give credit. I often scroll by something that sticks in my brain, but I haven't a clue where I found it!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is lovely. Perhaps you were inspired by Gretchen's Little Corner's 2019 list of quilts. She was on the same linky party as you are today and I happened to look there. Karma?! Both quilts are now on my list to study and perhaps do my own spin!
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous, Jan, and so inspiring! I've got a ton of strips left over from the overzealous cutting spree I went on with my pineapple log cabin blocks, so I've been on the lookout for a good project to use the leftover strips. Now you've got my creative juices going; thank you! And yes, I can think of any number of KF large scale prints that would be fantastic to back this top. Great job!
ReplyDeleteHi.. any quick instructions on how you did this would be appreciated... l see it all scrappy! I love it. Thankypu
ReplyDeleteJanina, you are a no-reply commenter, so I can't reply to you directly. Yes, I do plan to post a simple tutorial for this quilt soon.
DeleteJanina, you should check out Karen Griska's Yellow Brick Road pattern. I had not seen it before, but it turns out it's exactly like my bright strippy spiral. Therefore I won't be posting a tutorial for my version after all.
DeleteBeautiful quilt! Perhaps the inspiration quilt you saw was Karen Griska's Yellow Brick Road quilt? I recently purchased her pattern and can't wait to try it!
