Framed Nine Patch with Border
To plan the backing, I put the top on my design wall, and I'm building wide strips of fabric from stash that will be big enough to cover the top. Here are the strips (rows) but they're not sewn together yet. The fabrics are whatever I found in my stash in the orange and yellow bins that would work, that I could use up.
Backing for F9P in Progress
Hopefully I can get this little quilt finished up this month.

Love that orange quilt! And what a festive backing for it--nice!
ReplyDeleteYour backing looks GREAT and is perfect for your quilt.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to measure for a pieced back! I love this quilt - so fun and fresh :*)
ReplyDeletePieced backings are lots of fun. I like what you did.
ReplyDeleteI watched someone else use that approach to building a back and it seemed so sensible -- why hadn't I thought of it before?
ReplyDeleteI love using up scraps to make a pieced back. I think this is going to look great and be a fun compliment to the front.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes! This is my favorite way of piecing a back. I've been challenging myself to use that technique to use up as much of the leftover fabric from the front as possible. Just trying to keep the scraps to a minimum. And it makes a fun alternative to the quilt front. I love your fabric selections for your framed nine patch, especially the way the border fabric works with everything else.
ReplyDeleteThat is looking really cool - like that pattern.
ReplyDeleteA great way to bust some stash.
