A Conflict of Interests

The Mercyful Plus top is ready to be layered and basted.

I found fabrics in my stash and pieced together a backing for it, black & white text prints. The next step is to spread it out on my dining room floor and pin baste it.

However, I can't do that now. I'd have to move the dining table and chairs out, and the table is occupied.

Santa brought me a 2000 piece jigsaw puzzle. I like puzzles and I usually get one for Christmas each year. But this one is the hardest, most frustrating one I've ever had, even harder than last year's which took me six weeks to finish.

So, as long as the puzzle pieces are on the dining table, I can't move the table. Therefore no quilt basting can happen. I'm sure I can find something else to do in the sewing room when I get too frustrated with the puzzle.

  1. I LOVE puzzles and usually do one over the holidays :) So happy I don't have any conflicts because puzzling would loose ;-)

  2. Basically, I think quilting is like doing a puzzle so I completely get it. Enjoy! :-)

  3. The Mercyful Plus quilt top looks great. My husband and I put together a 1,000 piece puzzle over Christmas week on our kitchen table. I hope that it becomes less frustrating and more fun as you continue to put it together!

  4. I wouldn't vacuum in there, either! I love puzzles, too, but I find them hard to put aside.

  8. Fun! I haven't done a big jigsaw puzzle in years. But then again, I haven't had a big dining room table in years, either :)

  9. Google wall basting. Might be an answer.

  10. Hubby and I did a small (750 pce.) puzzle on New Year's day. You'd think that an "easy" puzzle like that would be a piece of cake - nope! I had a 14 piece section attached at the side - upside down... The one piece that attached it to the border fit perfectly - and so did the correct piece that hubby found a few minutes later...
